My UC520 Adventures - 9911 callerid

Last month I installed my first Cisco UC520 VOIP system for a small 10 user office. The system was setup with eight 7960 and two 7911 Cisco IP phones. The office has 3 B1 lines with Telco provided line hunt service (if mainline busy, call moves to next line). Setup and configuration from the Cisco Configuration Assistant (CCA) was quick and straightforward but also somewhat limited. The majority of the UC520 configuration was done from the command line. Once you start tweaking from the command line, it's probably best not to use the CCA anymore. I was nearly finished with the configuration and thought I'd try making some changes through CCA. When I was done, CCA made some changes above and beyond what I was trying to configure. Bottom line, I ended up having to restore the config from a recent backup.

Over the course of a few weeks the UC520 system went through several configurations in response to user feedback. It started off as a PBX style system with 2 extensions in a hunt group and busy no answer forwarding to the mainline auto attendant script. The PBX configuration lasted about a week. It's now more of a pbx key system hybrid. All phones ring on incoming calls, users still have unique extensions with voicemail and no answer forwarding is still directed to the mainline auto attendant script.

One of the first noticeable issues during the initial configuration and testing was caller-id. Incoming calls with caller id enabled were fine. It was the unknown or private callers. Every time those calls came in, the system displayed 9911 as the caller. My local Cisco office tech (many thanks) offered the following tip to correct the issue: Apparently, the UC520 default configuration places the emergency dial peers first in line ahead of all the other dial peers. Re-arranging the dial peers and moving the incoming called-number . to the top of the dial-peer list took care of the issue. Below is the relevant portion of the config that shows the re arranged dial peers.
